FULFILLING GOD’S CALL
Hi dear brethren and friends,
It is our delightful privilege to welcome you to the family of the New Testament Church of God, here at Nursery Street, Sheffield, in South Yorkshire, UK.
As we proceed through the year, I entreat you, please, let us acknowledge whom the Almighty God Is (Isaiah 40: 25-31); and open our whole beings to Him and truly respond to His call to holy obedience.
The Holy Bible states:
He said to them, "Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of this law (Deuteronomy 32:46 NIV).
The Lord Jesus Christ Himself, the Son of the Living God, the perfect example; at the beginning of His Ministry, like John the Baptist, this was the first thing He instructed them to do if they were to follow Him.
"The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news (Mark 1:15 NIV)!"
The first people that began to follow the Lord Jesus were the apostles. And their response to His call and the proclamation they made to others, was to entreat everyone to receive Christ and obey Him, as we still do today as preachers of this great gospel of Christ.
But Peter and the apostles replied, "We must obey God rather than any human authority.
The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead after you killed him by hanging him on a cross. Then God put him in the place of honour at his right hand as Prince and Saviour.
He did this so the people of Israel would repent of their sins and be forgiven.
We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit who is given by God to those who obey him (Acts 5:29-32 NLT).As we fulfil the call of God in our lives, we are to do the things that matters to God and not just to ourselves (Acts 13:1-3) ¨
We are to be ministers for God by worshipping Him¨
We are to minister to each other – praying and practical help¨
We are to minister to our communities – communicate the good news and also practical help¨
We are to pray each day that there would be a manifestation of the Holy Spirit’s work of holiness in our lives (John 16: 1-15)
Let us allow the Holy Spirit speak to each of us. The Holy Scripture says:
While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them (Acts 13:2 NIV)
Be a part of God’s THINKING - be set apart for HIM!
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Dr Joseph Roberts
District Bishop (NTCG) Sheffield
